Collection Meetings

Collection Meetings, held under the guidance of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s collection managers, enables visitors to take a closer view at both the collections and the living quarters of the Sakıp Sabancı Family, as well as the work being conducted for the conservation of cultural heritage.


The Arts of the Book Collection Meetings

The Arts of the Book Collection Manager Ayşe Aldemir Kilercik gives guided tours of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum Arts of the Book Collection, whic has been meticulously brought together by Sakıp Sabancı. The tours of the Collection, similar items of which can be found in Topkapı Palace Museum Manuscript Library and Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, are conducted with the aid of state-of-the-art technological devices. The tours focusing on the samples from Ottoman arts of the book also provide the viewers with information on this branch of art in general, which is not widely known to public outside its specialists.



House Museum Meeting

The tours conducted by the Sakıp Sabancı Museum Collection Manager Hüma Arslaner provides thorough information on the living quarters of the Sakıp Sabancı Family in ‘Mansion with the Horse’, which is a center of attention for all the Museum visitors. The event sheds light on the century-long history of the Mansion, which was built by the Khedive Family before accomodating the Sabancı Family, as well as its living spaces, decoration and furniture. The tours also feature details of the Mansion’s transformation to a museum.



Preservation of the Cultural Heritage Meetings

Featuring the conservation techniques for preserving historical items both in the permanent collections and exhibitions at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum, the meetings entitled ‘Preservation of the Cultural Heritage’, provides the visitors with information on the possible effects such as heat, humidity and lighting on the process. The meetings are conducted by the Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s Paper and Book Conservator Nurçin Kural Özgörüş, who draws on her own working experience in the Museum, as well as international conservation standards. The tours also enable the visitors to acquire information on the measures taken for the preservation of the Family Rooms, and the Arts of the Book Collection of the Museum.
