Spoon-shaped spatula (mablak)

MÖ 6. binyıl sonu

Sabancı Üniversitesi Sakıp Sabancı Müzesi (Emirgan, İstanbul, Türkiye)

The spatula has a long, thin round handle whose broad spoon is uplifted and narrows toward the tip. It is used to mash and mix materials such as paints or ointments. Discovered by Istanbul Archaeological Museum experts during the 1992 salvage excavation of the Pendik settlement, the spatula was a funerary gift in a child’s grave.
