The document (mülkname) concerns ownership of the village of İsmokoç (otherwise known as Hacıbeyli) in the district of Demirhisar in the sub-province of Paşa granted to Mustafa, governor of Ohrid by Sultan Bayezid II. Upon Mustafa’s death the property was inherited by his son Mehmed, who granted ownership to his son Kasım. Kasım sold the property to Grand Vizier Sokollu Mehmed Paşa (d. 1579). The kadı of Istanbul drew up a property deed for this sale, declaring that revenues from the property in question belonged to Sokollu Mehmed Paşa and were exempt from taxation. The document also declared that the paşa had the right to do as he pleased with the property and that others could lay no claim to it. The tuğra, which reads, ‘Selim Şah b. Süleyman Şah Han may he ever be victorious,’ is illuminated in dark lapis blue. The spaces between the loop and the shafts of the tuğra are filled with scrolling branches with flowers in gold and blue, and the field of the zülfes (dependent sweeps) and kürsü (monogram) are gilded. The first line of text is written in gold ink and the rest in black. At regular intervals above the lines are gold dots known as zer-nişan. The document is written in the style of divani script used in the mid-16th century.
