Evasıt-ı Şevval 847 [Şubat Başı 1444]

Sabancı Üniversitesi Sakıp Sabancı Müzesi (Emirgan, İstanbul, Türkiye)

This kıt’a (calligraphic composition consisting of short inscriptions and illumination) consists of the besmele written as a single line in sülüs script, adages in two lines of nesih, a prayer in two lines of nesih and the colophon in two lines of rıka.  The halkâr decoration on the first line and marbling in the margin must date from the 20th century. Other examples of calligraphy by Abdullah el-Herevî in the sülüs, nesih, divani, rıka and reyhani scripts written in Samarkand and Herat between 1430-67 are in albums in Topkapı Palace Museum and Istanbul University Library, some specifying the place and date where the copying was carried out.
