After serving as a visionary leader at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum since 2003, Dr. Nazan Ölçer will entrust her esteemed role to Professor Ahu Antmen, a distinguished faculty member of Sabancı University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, effective 3 February 2025.

During her tenure, Dr. Ölçer brought Sakıp Sabancı’s profound artistic vision to life, leading the reimagining of the museum into one of Turkey’s most distinguished cultural institutions. Under her stewardship, the museum hosted exhibitions showcasing the works of internationally acclaimed artists such as Picasso, Rodin, Joseph Beuys, Salvador Dalí, Rembrandt, Monet, Ai Weiwei, Anish Kapoor, Marina Abramović, David Hockney, and Georg Baselitz. These exhibitions not only introduced groundbreaking art movements and visionary artists to the public but also played a pivotal role in establishing the Sakıp Sabancı Museum as a globally recognised cultural beacon.

Dr. Ölçer’s unparalleled standing within the global museum community, coupled with the unwavering support of the Sabancı family, positioned the museum as a significant platform for cultural and artistic exchanges. Her leadership propelled the museum to the forefront of international collaborations, fostering partnerships with some of the world’s most renowned museums. Beyond its distinguished collection and temporary exhibitions, the Sakıp Sabancı Museum emerged as a vibrant reference point for contemporary museology, offering dynamic learning programmes for all age groups, producing scholarly publications, and hosting a wide array of cultural events.

With Professor Ahu Antmen, who has been a member of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum Board of Directors since 2018, the Sakıp Sabancı Museum will continue to thrive as an inspiring cultural hub for future generations.
