Touchable Textures: Sensory Still Life Art (ages 5-7)
Touchable Textures: Sensory Still Life Art (ages 5-7)
Children will gather around two still life paintings by Şeker Ahmet Paşa: Still Life With Flowers and Still Life With Melon, to observe their various details and discuss the particular textures of some of their elements. How would this melon feel? How would these flowers sense? How do these artworks use texture to tell a story?
Following the discussion, textured materials such as ribbons, beads, fabric scraps, cotton balls and more will be provided. Children, who are asked to choose from these materials, will then be arranging them on paper to create a textured collage that vividly represents the still life elements of melon and flowers. To add finishing touches, markers will be used to incorporate more details and colours. This hands-on activity encourages children to explore art through a tactile experience, allowing them to engage with their senses in a creative and meaningful way.
